Why is Aggressive Behavior Appealing to Dogs?

Dogs have been bred for millennia to be aggressive. In the wild, an aggressor is more likely to survive and reproduce. This instinctual behavior is what makes dogs so appealing to us as humans. Aggression is one of the qualities that make dogs so interesting and fun to be around.

However, aggression can also be harmful if not controlled. Dogs that are excessively aggressive may frighten or even harm people or other animals. Fortunately, there are ways to train an aggressive dog to become a friendly one. You can also click here for more information regarding aggressive dog training.

The first step is to identify the reason why the dog is behaving aggressively. Sometimes a dog may be acting out because it is feeling threatened or insecure. If this is the case, then training must focus on teaching the dog that it does not need to act aggressively in order to feel safe.

Another common reason for aggression in dogs is boredom. If a dog has constant access to people and objects but no opportunity to exercise its aggression, it may become restless and aggressive. In this case, providing appropriate stimulation for the dog (such as playing fetch with a Kong toy) can help prevent aggression from occurring. Finally, some dogs become aggressive because they enjoy asserting dominance over others.
